Privacy Policy
Effective date June 6, 2026
Motion Bay runs on your device. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. A few features send your approximate location to map and weather providers so they can return results — those requests are described below, and nothing else leaves your phone.
Overview
Motion Bay ("the App") is developed by Twoby2 Studios. This policy explains what data the App accesses, how it is used, and the limited cases in which data is sent to a third-party service to make a feature work.
Data processed on your device
These device capabilities are used entirely on your iPhone. Data from these sources is processed and stored locally and is not uploaded to Twoby2 Studios or any server we control.
- Camera (rear and front). Used for the live camera view, on-screen HUD overlays, and continuous dashcam recording. Video is stored locally in rolling 10-minute segments that overwrite automatically. Color sampled from the camera feed is used to tint on-screen visual elements.
- Microphone. Used only for hands-free voice search (see "Voice search"). The dashcam records no audio — video segments are silent.
- Location services. Used for navigation, compass heading, reverse geocoding, points-of-interest discovery, and drive tracing. Drive traces are stored locally. Your location is also included in the network requests described below.
- Motion sensors. Accelerometer and gyroscope measure vehicle dynamics for the on-screen gauges (g-force and road grade) in real time. This sensor data is not transmitted.
Data sent to map and weather providers
Two features require a network request that includes your approximate location so the provider can return relevant results. No name, account, device identifier, or contact information is attached to these requests.
- Apple MapKit. Points-of-interest searches (including voice search) are sent to Apple's MapKit service, handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
- Open-Meteo. Approximate location is sent to the Open-Meteo weather service to retrieve local wind direction and speed for the wind display; Open-Meteo's privacy policy applies.
Voice search
Voice search uses Apple's on-device speech recognition, forced to run entirely on your device. If on-device recognition is unavailable for your device or language, voice search is simply not offered rather than sending audio elsewhere. Voice audio never leaves your device and is not stored by Motion Bay.
Saving clips to your photo library
Dashcam footage stays in the App unless you choose to export it. If you tap "Save to Photos," the selected clip is added to your Photo Library using add-only access. Motion Bay cannot read or browse your existing photos.
Data storage and retention
Locally stored data — dashcam video segments, drive traces, and points-of-interest caches — is managed on your device. Drive-data retention is configurable (default: 30 days). Removing Motion Bay deletes its on-device data.
No analytics or tracking
Motion Bay includes no analytics frameworks, advertising SDKs, or tracking tools. There is no usage analytics, crash-reporting service, or behavioral tracking of any kind.
No account required
Motion Bay does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use the App.
No sale of data
Motion Bay does not sell your data and does not share it for advertising or monetization. The only data that leaves your device is the approximate location included in the map and weather requests described above, used solely to return results for those features.
Children's privacy
Motion Bay is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone. The App requires no account and collects no personal identifiers.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
